01
Who controls your information
Karmali Investments Ltd, Kampala, Uganda, trading as Kazi Fundi. Contact us at hello@kazifundi.com. We handle personal data in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
02
What we collect
- Whether you're joining as a customer or as a fundi.
- Your name and phone number, and your email address if you give one.
- Your area or nearest landmark, the trades or jobs you mentioned, and any note you wrote.
- Basic technical information your browser sends, such as approximate location and device type.
If you apply as a professional, we also collect the documents you upload — identification, any LC1 letter, certificates and work photos. These are stored privately and seen only by our verification team.
03
Why we use it
- To contact you when Kazi Fundi opens in your area.
- To start verification with fundis who want a badge before launch.
- To decide which areas and trades to launch first.
We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
04
Who can see it
Only our team, and the technology providers that host our website and database on our behalf. We do not sell your details, and we do not share your phone number with advertisers or other companies. Some of these providers store data outside Uganda under appropriate safeguards. We may disclose information where the law requires it.
05
Payments
When a job is booked, the price is paid into Kazi Fundi and held until the work is confirmed. For that we keep the amount, the date, the job it relates to, the reference our payment provider gives us, and the Mobile Money number used. We never see or store your Mobile Money PIN, and we do not store card numbers — those stay with the licensed payment provider. Payment records are kept for seven years because tax law requires it, even if you close your account.
06
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until two years after launch if you never take up an account — whichever comes first. Payment and job records are kept longer, as described above.
07
Your rights
You can ask to see the details we hold about you, correct them, delete them, or stop us contacting you. Email hello@kazifundi.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our response, you can complain to Uganda's Personal Data Protection Office.
09
Changes
We'll update this page as the service grows, especially when accounts, payments and verification go live. The date at the top shows the latest version.
